State Fair Winners

Blue Ribbon winners at the Alabama State Fair!  Some of our mothers and grandmothers spent many hours in the kitchen preserving fruit and vegetables from their gardens...

For me personally, this painting is a winner, too, because it is one of four pieces of  mine that were recently selected by the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art.   My work will accompany the paintings of some very talented artists in their museum shop.  It's an honor and a privilege to be associated with these wonderful curators of art. 

Old Faithful

This Golden Retriever never tires swimming after the tennis ball!

Lobsterfest

This painting is based on a photograph from a wonderful New England cruise taken with our good friends several years ago.  The fall leaves were beautiful in these quaint harbor towns.  This is Halifax, Nova Scotia.  I'm still painting lobster cages in my sleep!

Struttin' Tom

It is the season for hunting wild turkeys in Alabama.  Early risers would surely like to call one of these fellas in the woods.

The Rock

The Rock is a popular gathering place at Lake Martin.  Boats and swimmers, old and young, socialize here on summer weekends.  Often the brave take a leap from these rocks to the water below.

Old Glory

This 1975 Jeep was Paw-Paw's pride and joy.  It thrilled his grandchildren, and even though he is no longer with us to enjoy it, it is a special treat today for his great-grandchildren.

Gus

Gus is my friend Rachel's ten year old beloved Fox Terrier.  He looked very handsome in her wedding several years ago.

The View

                       This charming neighborhood is enhanced by its view of the ocean.

Toomer's Trees

Toomer's corner is still alive!


This area is a landmark of the Auburn experience.  As the sun lights up the trees at daybreak, Toomers corner will soon come to life as classes begin, shops and restaurants open for business.  We are all hoping that these beautiful trees will survive.

Sippin' Sisters

This painting was a gift for the loving grandparents of these beautiful young ladies.  These two sisters were pausing to share a soda one sunny day, while on vacation at Disneyland.

Polka Dot Cutie

 

This commissioned piece will be a Christmas gift for the loving grandmother of this precious child.  Attempting to capture her wonder and innocence is my privilege and challenge.

Silence Before the Storm

This was the scene one day as storm clouds were gathering across the lake. Perhaps you have experienced this stillness before a storm moves in.   The wooden boat was slightly adrift.  The painting is significant to me because of the scripture Luke 5:3. It reminds us to stay anchored and keep Jesus in the boat with us as we navigate our daily "waters".

Grassroots

Grassroots is a bucolic scene on the grounds of the Girls Ranch in rural Tallapoosa County, Alabama.  The ranch is a peaceful home for girls from troubled families.

Kowaliga

Meet Kowaliga, our  Lake Martin Indian of lore.  I won first place in the 2011 annual art competition for Lake Martin Living magazine. I am honored to have my painting on the cover of their October issue.

Goldfish

These goldfish bookends or door stoppers are among the many creations that will be auctioned at the Tornado Trash 2 Treasure Art Gala and Celebration Concert, a fundraiser for victims of the deadly torandos last spring in the Dadeville/Lake Martin area.  The event will be held on Thursday Oct. 13 from 6:00-9:00 at the Event Center Downtown in Opelika.
