Kowaliga

Indian chief, Kowaliga, has a special place in the legends of Lake Martin.  Hank Williams wrote a song about him! He is painted on a wonderful surface of rough cut cedar and hangs by a heavy rusted chain. This painting is on display and for sale this month at Gallery 128 in Alexander City.  

River Fish

This is the second painting of my fish series.  Attaching the rippled tin to the frame was challenging for my husband.  The tin and rough cut cedar were perfect compliments to each other.
It is available at Lakeside Mercantile at Linda's Greenhouse at Walnut Hill  near Lake Martin.

Lake Bass

This is one of a series of fish paintings I am working on in preparation for my first solo show at Gallery 128 in Alexander City beginning March 4.  My husband salvaged the tin for me and crafted the frame from rough cut cedar. He did a great job. 
I'm excited and honored to have this opportunity to exhibit my work.  More details to follow...

Ripe 'n Hot

 

This painting began creation as a small black and white study applying lessons learned from Peggi Kroll Roberts and Ronald Bayens. After working out my values in the study, I painted this larger piece in color.

Blooming Pail is available at Stonehenge Gallery. It is located at 1041 E. Fairview Avenue in Montgomery.  I am honored to have them represent me.  I will also have some smaller paintings  in their Small Works Holiday Show this weekend.  Please stop by when you can.

Toomer Trees Prints and Notecards

 

Auburn University is a very special place!  It has given so many of us a quality education and a foundation of  skills to help us succeed in life. 

I have a limited number of these Toomers Trees prints available for sale. They have an off white mat and are presented in sleeves ready for gifting. The print size is 11 x 14. Mat size is 16 x 20. $90.
Notecards are 4 x 6. Six cards and envelopes to an acrylic box. $15

Geraniums After Dark

Please come to the Artist Market at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art on Saturday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  It will be a great opportunity to purchase fine art, handcrafts, and jewelry for the holidays.  Geraniums After Dark will be for sale, and I will be there along with thirty other local artists.  I hope you will join us!

Artist in Action

Many thanks to the staff of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art for making me feel so welcome yesterday.  I loved seeing old friends and making new ones!

MMFA

I'm looking forward to painting on Wednesday, November 7, at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art.  I will be the featured artist this month of their meet the artist series.  I am scheduled to be there from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.   So... if you are in the area, please stop by and say hello.

Commitment

 

Thirty years ago I made this christening gown for our son, David.  Now our grandchildren are wearing it.  With each young life that we dedicate to our Lord, I embroider the child's initials into the hem of the petticoat.  This painting holds memories of many happy family celebrations.

Oso

You may remember Oso from my posting this summer.  He is the surfing dog from Lake Martin.  My painting of him was chosen for the cover of Lake Martin Living this month.  He won first place in their art contest and received the People's Choice Award while on exhibit at Gallery 128 in Alexander City!
