Daisy was the sibling or housemate to Lucky from my last post.  I love how the owner chose to let each dog have her own portrait!

Lucky

I have been busy this fall painting commissions of children and pets for Christmas.  I appreciate my clients allowing me to paint their precious family members.  I am sad to say that Lucky died recently.  I hope that this portrait will bring back loving memories for her owners.

Heavenly Angel

This painting is mixed media, a combination of pen and ink with oil paint.  I applied the paint with a palette knife for the background to achieve a dimensional quality in the atmosphere surrounding this angelic lady.  She is available at The Flower Store in Auburn.

Autumn Harvest

Fall pumpkins, copper, and baskets in this painting...so many warm colors of autumn.  It is a time of bountiful harvest and thanksgiving.  I want to thank each of you for your encouragement and interest in my art.  Happy Holiday!

Busy Bee

Honey bees have been domesticated for honey production and crop pollination.  I painted this painting for a friend who keeps bees on his farm outside of Auburn.

Nova

My grandsons and I were lucky to see Nova this year in an educational program at the Southeastern Raptor Center.  We were able to take photos with him.  Nova has a heart condition, so is no longer flying in my favorite pregame ritual at the stadium on game day at Auburn University.   He is being well cared for, living the good life, and making celebrity appearances with lots of attention from staff and fans. Our bald eagle, Spirit, has taken over his gameday duties.

Miss Virginia's Collection

Miss Virginia's Collection features a Coppertone lineup of the once popular suntanning lotions that we relied on to enable us to reach that deep golden tan.  But my how things have changed!  Sun blocks are now a wiser choice than deep tanning lotions.

Southern Magnolia

This Magnolia is the third of my southern flower series.  Magnolia leaves are as unique and beautiful,  as its blossoms.  This painting will hang along with its Gardenia companion piece in the dining room of a sweet Southern lady.

Gardenias in Bloom

This is the second painting in my series of southern flowers. Gardenias grace the porches and yards in our southern homes.  Their lovely scent reminds me of childhood visits to my grandmother's house.

Pretty Boy

This little guy had such a sweet face.  I enjoyed painting him.

Wading in the Chattahoochee

The reference photos for this portrait of Sam were taken by my very talented daughter in law, Lauren Carroll.  He was wading in the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta.  His favorite part of the painting is the red boat!

Good Times

Thank you, friends,  for coming to the  Legacy clubhouse Thursday night to celebrate art with us. I have had an incredible art journey, and it was an honor to share my paintings with you.

Cardinal

One of my favorite pastimes is watching the beautiful cardinals come to our feeders.  Each year I paint a new painting in my redbird series.  This is my 2018 cardinal.  The painting is available at my spring art show at the Legacy Clubhouse Thursday night.  5:00 to 7:30.  I hope you will join us to celebrate!

Join Us To Paint: Light and Color

Event date:  Thursday, March 22    10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

We will paint a still life of a pear, focusing on light, shadow, and color.  Bring your own paints and brushes, (odorless turpentine please, if you will paint with oils).  Or, you may use our acrylic paints, brushes, and plastic palettes.

Twins

 

It is an honor and privilege to get to know young families by painting their beautiful children.  These portraits of twin boys will be hung beside a portrait I painted of their older brother several years ago.

Belle and Ellie

I was commissioned to paint these two best friends this year.  I had painted their individual pet portraits in years past as they joined their human family.  They are actually celebrities, as you can see below as they grace the cover of Laurens NOW magazine!  I am sure Santa left these two cuties lots of treats.
